Welcome to week two! We had a great (and very hot!) first week of school.

Memory passages this week are due Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Please remind your child to practice at home so he/she is ready to recite in the morning upon arrival!
• Tues.: Ps. 139:14
• Thurs.: 1st Comm., John 3:16
• Fri.: Hymn 221:1-2

The first math test will be Wednesday, September 9. There is generally one math test each week. The first book report is due Friday, October 2. Please look for the note that was sent home.

Grades 3-5 will sing in church this Sunday, September 6 at the 8:45 AM service! Please sign and return the note that was sent home.

Please remember to send your child’s earthquake kit to school by Tuesday, September 8! Thank you to those who have already returned the kits.

Please be sure to have book covers on all hardcover school books by Tuesday, September 8! Thank you for helping to keep the books in good condition.

September book orders were sent home. Please return all order forms and payment in an envelope to Miss Tjernagel by Tuesday, September 8!

All students need to have tennis shoes at school for PE class on Mondays and Wednesdays. The Monday Mile will begin this week. Please also note that your child may wish to bring a sweatshirt or jacket for the cooler mornings.

Vision Screening will be held at school for grade 5 this Thursday, September 3.

Instrumental forms and fees are due Friday, September 4. Please return all forms to Miss Tjernagel.

We will be having an Open House at school September 8-11. Please invite any prospective friends and families that may be interested in a great education to check us out!

Grades 3-5 will be going on a field trip on Thursday, September 17. Please look for the field trip form that was sent home.

Anyone wishing to volunteer in the classroom, on field trips, or drive for various trips needs to attend the Keeping Our Children Safe class. Volunteers do need to take the class each year. Following is a list of available class times:

• Monday, September 14, 7:15pm (After Pioneers)
• Tuesday, September 15, 4:30pm

Graded papers will come home in a folder with your child every Friday. Inside the folder there is a sheet for you to sign indicating that you have looked at your child’s work, and then the folder should be returned to school on Monday. All work should stay at home unless there is a note on the assignment, or if you have a question. Thanks!

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns!
Have a wonderful week!
Miss Tjernagel
