Welcome back to the 4th quarter of the school year. I hope you had a blessed Easter celebration of Jesus’ resurrection! What a comfort to know that we too will rise and live with our Savior in heaven one day.

This week we have spelling unit 26. The pretest is on Monday and the final test is on Friday. The students will continue writing various types of poems. All students will take a math test on Wednesday. This week we will be reading stories from the hardcover reading book and we will also begin a new science unit.
3rd quarter report cards will be sent home with your child on Friday. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
The 3rd – 5th grade classes sing in the 8:45 AM church service this Sunday, April 6. Please return the singing note that was sent home on Monday. The students will meet in the fellowship hall at 8:30 AM on Sunday. See you then!
April book order forms were sent home on Monday. All order forms and payment should be returned to Miss Tjernagel in a sealed envelope by Monday, April 7. Happy looking! The nonfiction book report project is due Friday, April 11. A note concerning the project directions was sent home before Easter vacation. Please let me know if you need an additional copy or have any questions.

This Holy Week we remember the last days of suffering Jesus endured for us, and his death on the cross. We are thankful Jesus paid the price for our sins and rose again so that we too will live with Him in heaven one day!

This is the last week of the 3^rd quarter. Report cards will be handed out the week after Easter vacation. Have a very Blessed Easter and a wonderful week of vacation!

This week’s spelling unit is 25. The pretest is on Monday and the final test is on Friday. The class took an English adverb test on Monday. All 5^th grade students will take a math test on Tuesday. This week we are finishing reading the novel The Sign of the Beaver and we will be watching a DVD based on the book.

There are no Lenten services this Wednesday evening. There will be Maundy Thursday services on Thursday and Good Friday services on Friday. All students will sing in the Good Friday service at 2:00 PM.

The nonfiction book report is due Friday, April 11. More information concerning the project details was sent home on Monday.

What beautiful weather the Lord has been giving us! May we each remember to thank God for all the physical and spiritual blessings he provides for us every day.

This week’s spelling unit is 24 and reviews the words from lessons 19-23. The pretest is Monday and the final test will be Thursday. This Wednesday there will be an English review on adverbs, and the test will be next week Monday. This week we will begin working on writing poems. During the coming weeks we will also be writing some friendly letters. There will be no math test this week. Next week Monday we will have a science review and the test will be held on Tuesday.

The students will begin working on a non-fiction book report. All students should bring a non-fiction book to school for approval by Monday, March 17. Project directions will be sent home next Monday.

This week Friday we will be going on our field trip to see The Wizard of Oz at the San Jose Civic Auditorium. We will leave at 9:00 AM and plan to be back to school by noon.

Friday is a Teacher Collaboration Day, so school dismisses at noon. There is no hot lunch on Friday.

The Seminary Choir is singing at Apostles Lutheran Church on Saturday, March 22 at 7:00 PM. A volunteer group of students from Apostles School will sing with the choir. Please let me know if your child is willing to sing that night.

Easter For Kids is this Sat., March 15. Please return your permission form to the office if you plan to help.

Happy March to you! There are three weeks left in the third quarter and then we will have our spring break. The students continue to work very hard and are doing a great job.

This week’s spelling unit is 23. The pretest is on Monday and the final test is on Friday. All students will take a math test on Friday. There will be a science test on Tuesday covering the chapter on Earth and the Moon.

Grades 3-5 sing in the 11:15 AM service this Sunday, March 9. The bell choir from California Lutheran High School is coming to play in church and they will be accompanying us for our song. Please sign and return the form to school by Thurs., Mar. 6.

If you have not returned the field trip form to school, please do so by this Wednesday. Thanks! It is very important to have the phone numbers in case of an emergency. An information sheet concerning some field trip details was sent home on Monday.
